I have very fair and dry skin. And when the temps warm up and I want to wear shorts and dresses, I like a little glow. A few summers ago, I decided to embrace my pale skin but I missed having a little color and went back to self tanner this year. For years, I relied on spray tans, but keeping those up felt nearly impossible after I became a mom. They’re too expensive and too much work. I started paying closer attention to the ingredients in my beauty products. I continued to use St. Tropez since it works so well, but it’s not clean. I finally researched St. Tropez on EWG’s website, and it scored a 6, which is fair but not great. The moderate concerns for cancer are quite concerning. It scores high for allergies and immunotoxicity, and low for developmental and reproductive toxicity.

How To Apply Coco & Eve Self Tanning Mousse
1. For best results, it is recommended to exfoliate the skin beforehand to remove dead skin cells. I don’t usually do this and haven’t had any issues.
2. Shave any unwanted hair before applying your self-tanner.
3. Apply the tan to clean, dry skin, free from any moisturizers.
4. Use the tanning mitt to apply to the front of your body and the back of your legs and arms. Applying the mousse in a circular motion helps blend the product seamlessly, avoiding streaks and patches. Use the back tan applicator to evenly reach your back. Just put a few pumps of mousse on the applicator and grab the ends with your hands, stretching it back and forth. I usually do this twice and check the results in the mirror. Wash the mitt and back applicator after you’ve applied your tan. I usually put it in the sink under warm water, and then scrub and squeeze any excess tanning foam after I’ve showered to avoid damaging my tan.
5. Allow the tan to develop for a minimum of 2 hours or overnight for a deeper tan. I usually apply it, put on my favorite kimono robe (I have it in black), and work for two hours before showering.
6. Shower in warm water to remove the guide color and pat skin dry with a towel.
7. Repeat every 5-7 days or when needed. Moisturize daily for best results. I apply once a week and try to use body lotion daily. I recommend this one.
