Just a friendly reminder to get your kids in swim lessons! I’m not sharing this to make anyone feel like they’re behind. My oldest didn’t start until age 5! This is just a nudge to start when you can - it’s never too late and learning to swim is *so* important.

My son learned roll to float at 10 months and just completed his first refresher course at 19 months. He will learn to swim this spring.

We completed @watchmeswim which I realize isn’t for everyone and that’s ok. It wasn’t what I expected at all. They don’t just throw your child in - it was a really smooth (and not scary) process. They do this at the end once they’re comfortable. Babies and toddlers learn to float and finish in a winter coat since many accidents happen when you’re near the water but not in a swimsuit. This spring, he will l learn to swim like his big sisters.

And while we’re discussing safety, your child shouldn’t wear a coat in their car seat unless it’s a car seat safe coat, the chest clip goes across their chest and not above or below, they should rear face until they’re AT LEAST 2 but ideally 4, and shouldn’t move from a car seat to a booster unless they are too heavy or tall for their car seat which depending on the child and car seat, is usually between ages 5-7.

We are all doing our best and have to consider our kids’ needs (like car sickness). Just here with some fun and important safety reminders this holiday season.
