They’re called FEELINGS, sir 🫠

To our Estelle. We met over video chat 2 years ago (via an au pair agency) and I knew I liked you, but never imagined how much we would love you. The thought of an au pair seemed so surreal at the time. You moved from France to the Chicago suburbs to LIVE with us and help care for our children. Dinners, Christmas, crazy mornings, braiding hair, and family vacations.

You very quickly became part of our family and
made the last 18 months so much better. And you did it with kindness, love, and joy. I’ll miss our movie nights, our talks, and I’ll really miss giving you a look when Conor annoys me 🤣

All I could say today was “thank you for everything” before I started to cry. We were all crying and this wasn’t happening. It was so much more about you and the girls, anyway. What you have with them is so special. They love you so, so much. Jack does, too.

But what we had is special, too. I don’t know what I would have done without you. I feel more ok than I thought I would - we can do this - but we’re really going to miss you.

I’ll make sure Jack keeps counting in French and hope he never stops saying doudou and “telle” 😭 I’ll try to braid the girls’ hair, but it’ll never be the same. The girls are probably going to send you emojis and voice notes every day forever. I think I might, too.

Just watched the last slide - the video with Jack - and I’m crying.
