The Big Content Update: My Plan for 2025
I have been thinking a lot about the work I do, how I spend my time, and what I want to put out into the world. And I’ve been trying to figure out what makes the most sense for my blog, Substack (my favorite place right now), and Instagram. So I thought I’d share where I’m at right now, what I’m working on, my plan for content in 2025.
The Big Content Update: My Plan for 2025
My Blog
My blog has probably seen biggest shift since I’m putting my more personal, behind-the-scenes posts are now on Substack. Its home to more editorial content since that’s what’s the most valuable here. So it’s a lot of the same, with the personal content now on my newsletter/Substack. I see my blog as being a lot more editorial. It’s where you’ll find product roundups, gift guides, reviews, and some advice, too.
Substack (Free Content)
Enter Substack. It’s a newsletter meets blog, and I absolutely love it. It feels like what blogging used to feel like back in the day. I love it there. I get that it’s one more thing to check, it feels easy and refreshing, and I love that we can build a little community there. It is my goal to connect more via a subscriber chat and to bring back Find a Friend there. I’d really like to grow that this year.
Substack functions like a newsletter with a home, so the content can be referenced later. I can send each post to your inbox but cap emails at once a week because more than that would be annoying. There’s an app, but I prefer reading the substacks I subscribe to on my computer.
Up until recently, I have been publishing one free post a week. I am setting a new (lower) bar for 2025, and plan to publish two free posts per month.
I hope you’ll give my Substack a chance if you haven’t yet. And I’d love for us to connect even more, here.
Substack (Paid Content)
A paid subscription is $5 / month or $50 / year. I give one subscriber a box of goodies each month – usually lots of beauty products mixed with other brands I love. Last month’s giveaway recipient received over $800 in products!
Paid subscribers are given access to the more personal stories that I don’t want to share with everyone. I’ve done a deeper dive on my very complex relationship with my parents, talked about how I took control of my health, and each month, share an in-depth behind-the-scenes look at what’s happening in my life. I’ll write about what’s going on with work, SEO updates, and break down where I’m making money (affiliate vs. partnerships etc).
I’ve been thinking a lot about how I can create meaningful content that doesn’t make me hate instagram. Consuming less has helped significantly – I feel less exhausted and defeated. Putting out content that I feel good about creating, and not creating what I think I have to create feels good. I didn’t sign up for video content – it’s never what I’ve been the most interested in, but it’s a thing, and I struggled to find a way to make it work for me.
Things changed so much when the algorithms shifted, and it became so hard for your content to be seen. I’d put content out there and experience zero growth, and feel defeated. And that’s what IG felt like for so long. Like this thing I had to do, and this unrecognizable place I didn’t want to be. When I left my old company, my days of taking on the partnerships that aren’t a perfect fit, or doing things I didn’t want to do were over. If I had to make it work, it was a no. But I’ve found that if you curate who you’re following, consume less, and take the news off of Instagram, it’s a much better place to be.
And just doing what feels good feels good.
This resonated, and I felt good sharing it. I loved hearing from people who needed to see it. This felt good, too. For me, it’s all about sharing the things that feel important, making connections, and mixing in a little bit of the fun stuff, too. That’s not to say that my blog can’t be that, but again, it feels more editorial.
My Podcast
I haven’t started my podcast yet BUT I have a podcast name, producer, graphic designer, and am shooting headshots for the cover art next week. And I have 20 guests lined up. Nothing is scheduled, but they’ve all said yes to being guests. I can’t wait to share more, but the elevator pitch is that I love listening to podcasts, but most podcast guests are well-known, and I’d like to have some real, raw conversations with people who aren’t household names. Everyone has a story, and I love those conversations where you just sit down and tell each other everything.
Shopping
For those of you interested in shopping, whether its links to clothes or kids products, I am working on updating my shop more, along with ShopMy and Instagram.
If you have any questions or comments, let’s chat in my Substack chat. I’d love to hear from you!
