29 –> 30

My 20s will come to an end exactly one week from today and I have to be honest ā€“ it’s a strange feeling. I look forward to see what my 30s will bring, but one chapter of my life is coming to an end and it feels a little bittersweet. So much has happened in the past 10 years. I went to college. I started a business. I moved from the west coast to the Midwest. I got my first apartment. I said goodbye to my grandmother. I rescued a dog. I started another business. I made new friends, said goodbye to old ones, and grew in ways I never thought I would (or could). I learned who I am and what I want.

So ā€“ I want to know. If you’re 30 (or older) what do/don’t you miss about your 20s and what do/don’t you love about your 30s? What have you learned in your 30s?

If you’re in your 20s, what do you want to do before you hit the big 3-0? What do you love about being in your 20s?

Birthday cake shots. I might need one of these. via

So much to be proud of Danielle! Wishing you a very happy last week of your twenties! x

Happy birthday Danielle – have a fabulous day šŸ™‚
I'm 31 and I gotta say, being in my 30s is so much better than my 20s… in that I'm just more relaxed about who I am, what I want, I apologise less, I can say 'no' more – basically I have far less FOMO (fear of missing out). It's exciting what the next decade will bring; a wedding in a week and a half, then who knows… babies, a new house, change of career direction?? It's a fantastic age to be, I think xx

I was perfectly fine with turning 30, no big deal. About a month before my bday, I freaked. I was pregnant and huge and I just felt…..OLD. And boring. šŸ™‚

So I went out and bought a bass guitar. I practiced until my belly was too big for it to fit around.

After celebrating the big 3-5 on Saturday, I can say that so far, my thirties are better than my twenties. I have it so much more together. I am smarter. More confident. I know who I am.

I have a feeling, Danielle, that your thirties are going to be amazing. The possibilities are endless!

You have accomplished so much in your twenties so I think you are definitely leaving this age bracket accomplished. As for women in their thirties, I think they instantly look more sophisticated. I look at them and think "WOW! They have their ishhh together!". Plus I am positive I read somewhere that 30 is the new 20.

How funny – I turned 29 yesterday and i've been thinking about what i want to do in the next few years!

I've only been 30 for a few weeks, so I obviously cannot speak to why it's better than our 20's… but I took it as a fresh start, another decade to live and love and enjoy to it's full potential. So far, I'm loving it! I agree with the commenters above that noted things like feeling more comfortable with yourself, more relaxed, etc!

Happy birthday, friend. Hope it's fabulous!

I'm turning 30 in February & I agree, as it gets closer its a little bittersweet. I feel much more settled with myself & in my life then I have for most of my 20's & I'm looking forward to that continuing into my 30's. But I'm loving all this advice from readers!

by the time i turn 30, i want to have done something that has surprised me and the people that know me and that i can be proud of when i'm 60. little random, but that's what i'm goaling for!

    enjoy your birthday week!

Enjoy your last days of 20s but more important your first days of 30! at only 24, 30 still feels way distant to me. What I`m enjoying most about my 20s is putting me first, living on my own, travelling as much as I can, meeting as many bucket list goals as possible. I feel like my 30s will coincide with having others to put first (or at least on par).

    Happy Birthday!
I'm 33 and so far so good, I definitely feel like with age I am somewhat wiser. However, I do feel like the older I get the less energy I have, I almost need to have a nap or some exercise to get daily task completed, whereas in my 20's I was like the energizer bunny.

I just turned 33 and I think I've been embracing a new motto of letting go, making goals and trying new things. I think I'm less self-conscious than in my 20's and don't care what people think. I'm also married and settled now so I really could care less about the whole bar scene. It's fun to go out but I'm very content staying in and watching a movie. The wanting to go out time is very few and far between now – which I am perfectly content with.

The thirties aren't bad at all. I'm actually loving it more than when I was in my twenties. I'm more confident, I'm more comfortable with myself… my heart feels settled and I have learned to accept what is and what isn't. I've been following your blog and TEG for a while now and after meeting you at the Blogger Blitz in Chicago I have no doubt that you'll enter and settle into your thirties with grace. Be excited!!!

  • Juley

How exciting! You've accomplished SO much and continue to inspire us all. I'm eager to see how the next years have in store for you.

I have 4 years left to:
    1. save enough to put a down payment on something
    2. rid myself of commitment issues so I can figure out what to put that down payment toward
    3. get into the MBA program of my dreams, in the French countryside of my dreams
    4. start my own business/NPO
    5. get those pesky student loans of the way

    Happy early birthday!

30 isn't so bad. Just sounds a bit scary. Welcome to my age bracket.

I am now in my mid-30s and I totally embraced turning 30. I was at a really good place in my life – I had a job, I just got married and moved into my first home (which my hubby and I bought together).

Although I am 35, I still feel like I'm 25 but my body feels sometimes feels old. I miss being carefree and having lot of energy as I did in my 20s. I regret not travelling more and being a bit more daring to take risks. Now that I have a mortgage to pay for, there's no drive for me to make a career change.

I feel though that being in my 30s, married with no kid, you lose a lot of friends because you are no longer in the same category as them. So, I miss those days when you always have plans with your friends. Now, it's just me and my hubby (aka Carrie & Big).

What I learned is that you are never too old to make a change or do something you love. You can always take chances no matter how old or young you are. Now if I only took this statement and followed through…
