Back in the Chi.
I arrived in Chicago on Wednesday evening. Had to have a little fun with hipstamatic while I was in the air. I love this app.
I was told to skip taking the cab to my friend’s condo and to head directly to the bar for the Blackhawks game. That’s hockey, for those of you who share my lack of interest in sports.
Chicagoans really love Chicago. They sing a song every time the team scores a goal, so you can imagine that everyone went insane when the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup for the first time since 1961. Horns honking, people cheering, fireworks…the whole 9 yards. It was madness.
I was supposed to meet Alaina and Crystal for dinner/drinks that night, but after only eating a salad and some almonds all day and then downing a very strong drink & a half, I was kind of a tipsy hot mess. Only not so hot. There was no way I was getting out of there in time to change and put myself together. Sad I missed it, but I get to spend Saturday with Crystal, and I know I’ll have plenty of time to meet Alaina later on.
Thursday night was kind of perfect. Spontaneous and fun. K and I ended up hanging out with one of A’s friends the rest of the day/night. I love that every time you go out, you make a new friend in this town. We went to a late dinner which involved some white wine and a delicious vegetarian burrito. So good. After dinner, we took K’s dog to a dog park, and then hung out on her rooftop & talked for 2 hours or so. We finally called it a night at 12:30 or 1:00.
I heart Chicago in the {almost} summer.
Side note. I haven’t faced any humidity yet. When I ask people if it’s as bad as everyone says it is, they all say yes. I’m a little nervous, but I’ll bet there are some creepers out there who love humidity. Maybe I’ll be one of those people.
